Apostle David Heynes, assisted by Rector Priest Morgan Price
Textword: John 16: 13-14
Before the service, the Rector Priest Morgan and Sisters Samantha, Janine and Bronwen rendered a instrumental, musical interlude to the delight of all the members.
This was a particularly happy event because the next day, Thursday 11th October, would be the birthday of Priest Morgan Price and his twin, Sister Shan Price.
Apostle David Heynes had made the decision to hold this service and share in the celebration.
The apostle said that, in many ways, he felt we were experiencing another Thanksgiving Service. Even on the journey to Wales, through the mountains and the countryside, one could see the beauty of God’s work in His creation.
That we could join together to thank God our Father that the rector and his sister had come through another year of life was a blessing in itself! However, the apostle had no doubt that every member without exception – including the youngsters – had experienced sorrow of some kind during their life.
Nevertheless, it is a wonderful when we can enter the house of God to give thanks and praise for the many blessings, seen and unseen, we have all received. Here we can lay aside the sorrow and pain we live through in our daily lives, and in the presence of our heavenly Father everyone can experience a few moments of deep spiritual peace and comfort that will sustain us in the days that lie ahead.
As the textword revealed: “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”
We experience the Spirit of truth when we hear the word by the power of the Holy Spirit. Life is the journey that brings us into the presence of God and the Comforter will remain with us until the Day of the Lord has come.
Priest Price shared the birthday text, which is his sister’s favourite; Isaiah 40: 28-32: “Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding……. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.
The apostle closed with a special word about the Sacrament of Holy Communion, as it is often called, the highlight of the service, for through partaking of the Lord’s Supper we can experience the great love of our heavenly Father, who by the sending of His Son opened the way for all to be saved. Oh what a blessing! Let us give praise and thanks.
After the service the birthday twins Priest Morgan and Sister Shan had their photos taken with their mother Sister Hanna Price (age 86), the Apostle Heynes and Priest Jefferson, then the congregation shared fellowship and refreshments.
